Collection: Miriam Traher

Miriam is an emerging self-taught artist known for her bold, layered work that evokes movement and joy. She grew up in Haliburton, roaming the lakes and hills, heading to Western Ontario to gain her HBA in business. She subsequently started Limited Edition, a clothing line incorporating original art by Linda Anne. Unfortunately, 911 ended their dreams, and she decided to focus on her kids and family, becoming their cheerleader, competitive basketball coach, and taxi driver and building and designing their dream home in Birr, Ontario. After retiring from a career in motherhood, after they all moved out,  she courageously followed her childhood dream to learn to paint, leading to the vibrant artistic journey she enjoys today. Miriam creates dynamic pieces rich in texture, spontaneous and organic in nature. She uses acrylics, mark-making tools, and collages, constantly exploring and wondering what “if” to discover her unique pieces. Her studio is a chaotic mix of papers and notes, becoming her work’s foundation. Her work is very present, a slice in time, with a world beyond the edges and experiences still to be had. Her art is represented in various galleries in Ontario and is collected worldwide.

The Muskoka Arts & Crafts (MA&C) Summer Show is one of Ontario’s oldest and largest rural outdoor events, serving as a key highlight of the summer season for both residents and visitors alike. This three-day event brings together over 200 of Canada’s most talented artisans, showcasing a diverse array of handcrafted art, from stunning sculptures and intricate jewelry to beautiful textiles and captivating paintings. With an estimated 10,000+ visitors each year, the show is a must-see cultural event in the heart of Muskoka.

As MAC’s largest yearly fundraiser, the Summer Show has a significant economic impact on the region, benefiting local businesses, galleries, and, of course, the artists themselves. The event provides a vital platform for creators to share their work with a wider audience, promoting local talent and strengthening Muskoka’s vibrant arts community. It’s not just a shopping experience; it’s a celebration of creativity, culture, and the spirit of collaboration that defines this stunning region.

In addition to the incredible artistry, the Summer Show also features live local music, entertainment, and an array of delicious food options, creating a vibrant atmosphere where visitors can engage with the arts in a lively and social setting.
