Collection: Margarethe Vanderpas
Margarethe Vanderpas is a Dutch-born professional artist, graphic designer, and educator who studied Fine Arts at Western University from 1983 to 1985 and continued her studies at Queen’s University in Art History, graduating in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Art History followed by a Bachelor of Education in the Artist in the Community Education Program. She currently lives in Lion's Head, Ontario on the Bruce Peninsula where she works out of her Studio/Gallery. Each year Margarethe explores new regions on foot and by kayak seeking new inspiration for her work. "I draw inspiration for my oil paintings from many sources; the waters and limestone cliffs of the Bruce Peninsula and the rock formations of the Canadian Shield along the shores of Lake Superior and Georgian Bay. I am fascinated by the powerful forces that have shaped the landscape and the effects that time and weather have had upon the earth’s surface. Water in particular has fascinated me since childhood. I delight in the discovery of rhythmic patterns created by light as it passes through water, by the wind as it dances on its surface and transforms and distorts what lies beneath. These patterns inspire me not just for their beauty, but because they suggest an underlying natural order. It is fitting that the varied and dynamic forms of all life would arise from such an active and animated medium."

ABOUT THE SUMMER SHOW
Please follow all our live updates on Instagram & Facebook for all things MAC: @muskokaartsandcrafts
The Muskoka Arts & Crafts (MA&C) Summer Show is one of Ontario’s oldest and largest rural outdoor events, serving as a key highlight of the summer season for both residents and visitors alike. This three-day event brings together over 200 of Canada’s most talented artisans, showcasing a diverse array of handcrafted art, from stunning sculptures and intricate jewelry to beautiful textiles and captivating paintings. With an estimated 10,000+ visitors each year, the show is a must-see cultural event in the heart of Muskoka.
As MAC’s largest yearly fundraiser, the Summer Show has a significant economic impact on the region, benefiting local businesses, galleries, and, of course, the artists themselves. The event provides a vital platform for creators to share their work with a wider audience, promoting local talent and strengthening Muskoka’s vibrant arts community. It’s not just a shopping experience; it’s a celebration of creativity, culture, and the spirit of collaboration that defines this stunning region.
In addition to the incredible artistry, the Summer Show also features live local music, entertainment, and an array of delicious food options, creating a vibrant atmosphere where visitors can engage with the arts in a lively and social setting. Whether you're an art enthusiast, a local business owner, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of Muskoka, the Summer Show offers something for everyone.
