Collection: Gayle Dempsey
Gayle Dempsey, a fourth generation Muskokan, is an award-winning artist who feels a deep connection to the spirit of the land, the lakes, the natural beauty and the peace that is Muskoka. Capturing the soul of place in acrylic and oil, Gayle’s work connects with her roots. Loose underpaintings give way to structural details as her passion is revealed.
Gayle is a Mother, Grandmother, Wife, Caregiver, Painter, Writer, Poet, Life-long learner, Arts advocate, Community Builder/animator/focalizer, Teacher/Mentor/Coach and Arts Education Champion.
She owns and operates Muskoka Place Gallery, is a Principal Partner of Muskoka Cultural Impresarios and Founder/Director of Development and Arts Education Coordinator of Muskoka Chautauqua.
Gayle’s inspiration and approach to painting is influenced by her Muskoka rural roots which permeate her being and are translated on to canvas intuitively. Her work comes from a sacred relationship that invites the viewer to share through the portal of her life-long experience of place, where the water meets the land in Muskoka. She strongly believes in the healing qualities of place and the messages of hope and healing that can be transmitted through art. Her work can provide diversity to your existing portfolio through geography/place i.e. Muskoka and also by theme - hope and healing and perhaps even extends the focus on Canada’s cultural identity.
Her work focuses on the sensitivity of our environment and draws people closer to its fragile nature and our relationship and responsibility for its health and wellness and the reciprocity it provides for our own well-being as we are one with nature.
