I paint to remember moments or places in time with its attached emotions. Recalling that experience reminds me of the joy while traversing a landform, or simply being humbled. Singularly, or within a landscape setting, my strong connection to the stalwart sentinel tree forms, past and present, lining my street or graciously grow in my backyard remain life-giving. My chosen medium, acrylic paint becomes the narrative for intuitive investigation. It’s through this medium that I unveil gestural compositions that become guideposts for my colour choices. Adding layers of line work with stick media on the canvas, I engage in a performance of responsive recollection. Brush-worked textures blend to add depth to recreate the essence of these places and forms. I view my canvas as a container for these intrinsic experiences. I’m inviting the viewer to wander around my responsive recollections to make connections to their own memory of place.
