This maple tree stands on small piece of land that borders a marsh and river channel on the South Branch of the Muskoka River. This place is very special where there are no cottages, past the Rocky Narrows where feel the river's wildness. This tree is where the frogs sing, beavers build homes, otters swim and the moose plod through the wetland bringing to mind natures strength and resilience. I have been drawing and photographing this special place for many years becoming a part of my experential cultural narrative in the landscape of Muskoka.
